SWABI: Two cousins were killed for marrying two women of a family without consent of their parents in Razaar tehsil here the other day, said police.

The two were identified as Nazim Khan, 28, and Qasim Khan, 27, both residents of Sheraghund village. They had gone to meet their relatives in Kernal Sher Khan village and were returning on their motorcycle when their rivals opened firing on them.

As a result, they were seriously injured and died on way to hospital.

When contacted, SHO Ajab Durrani said that the two cousins had married with two women of the family without consent of their parents, which caused the rivalry.

An FIR has been registered against Qasim Ali, Fazal Mohammad and Hamid Khan.

POWER OUTAGES: People of Sheikh Jana village staged a protest demonstration against excessive power outages here the other day.

The protesters marched to the main Swabi-Mardan road and blocked it to traffic. Later, they ended the protest when they were assured by Pesco officials that the time of power outages would be reduced.

CAREER FAIR: Speakers in the industrial open house and career fair of Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology said here the other day that strong industry-academia linkages could prove helpful in strengthening the country’s economy.

About 70 national and multinational organisations from across the country participated in the ‘Open House and Career Fair’ 2022.

Pakistan Science Foundation chairman Prof Shahid Mahmood Baig was chief guest at the inaugural ceremony attended by GIK Institute rector Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid, pro-rectors, heads of departments and final year BS students of various disciplines of engineering and management sciences.

The final year BS and MS students and PhD scholars had displayed over 200 industrial and research projects on different topics.
