DENGUE CASES

Published May 18, 2022

DENGUE CASES: Cases of dengue continue to rise at an alarming pace in Turbat. According to media reports, 1,068 dengue cases were reported from January to April this year. Recently, 360 new cases and two deaths have also been reported, but the relevant authorities have failed to control the menace. No fumigation has been carried out in vast areas across Balochistan. The provincial health minister and other relevant authorities should take urgent steps to control the spread of the disease.

ANIMALS IN POLITICS: We have often seen in recent days political parties mistreating animals for publicity stunts. A few days ago, a donkey was being abused at a political rally. Abusing animals is a crime and is considered a violent act in civilised countries. The political parties merely for the sake of seeking attention use these animals in their rallies and other political activities. This is blatantly wrong. Political parties have failed to respect and take care of human beings, and it is futile to expect them to be fair to the animals.

JACOBABAD LOADSHEDDING: The Udi Feeder of Thull taluka in Jacobabad district gets only one hour of electricity supply in the whole day. Sometimes, there is no electricity for many days. Jacobabad is one of the hottest regions of the world where temperature has touched the 50 Celsius mark more than once already. Our survival in such harsh conditions is difficult. The residents pay their bills regularly, but remain deprived of electricity. I have registered several complaints, but nothing has been done to improve the situation.

CALLING NAMES: Addressing political rivals with various offensive titles has become more of a norm in today’s Pakistan. Although these demeaning labels may serve their purpose of teasing and offending someone, they are against moral and ethical standards. We as a nation need to learn some dignified way to express our anger.
