RAWALPINDI: Expressing displeasure over illegal constructions in Murree, Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz has sought a report from relevant officials within a week so that action could be taken against violators.
During his visit to Murree, the chief minister expressed his dissatisfaction over the mushroom growth of buildings in Murree that were constructed without any approval. He inspected different areas of the hill station and Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital.
He spoke to patients about the quality of medical facilities provided to them and asked the administration to improve health care.
Doctors must be available at all times in the vaccination centre along with paramedics, he said, adding that the hospital must be kept clean and the dialysis machine would soon be fixed.
He expressed resentment over muddled encroachments around the hospital and directed officials to look into the issue. Commissioner Noorul Amin Mengal and senior officials of the district administration and police were also present.
Water recycling plan
Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz directed officials to submit a report that included a water recycling plan to overcome water shortage in Murree.
Presiding over a meeting at Government House, Murree, Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz announced that the Iqbal Library would be restored and the expressway revamped. Similarly, he said, walking street and Pindi Point would also be rehabilitated along with restoration and beautification of link roads and street lights.
Mr Shehbaz stressed the need to improve infrastructure and civic facilities and asked the local administration to take swift action in this regard.
He said the general bus stand should be restored by June and a computer system installed for tourist count and traffic information, adding that, “control rooms of Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and the tourism department should be set up to deal with any untoward incident”.
The commissioner briefed him about the improvement plan for Murree.
