ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) has cut off power supply to a water filtration plant in G-6, leaving the facility non-operational.

People of the area have been facing problems for the last many days in getting drinking water because they have to go to other sectors to fetch water.

The filtration plant near Qutab Shaheed Mosque was inaugurated only five months ago. As the temperature started going up and demand for water rising, Iesco cut off electricity supply to the plant leaving the residents in great trouble.

The director general of the CDA water management wing, Sardar Khan Zimri, said there was no justification for disconnecting power supply to the filtration plant. He said he would take up the matter with the officials of the power supply company.

“If it is bill payment issue, it must have been paid and in case it is not it will be paid soon, he added.

Iesco Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Amjad Khan, when contacted, said power supply was not cut off for such a small amount.

“I don’t know the exact reason but it must be a big amount if it is a payment issue,” the CEO said.
