LAHORE: The upcoming Eidul Fitr will bring a great excitement for the cinegoers as five Pakistani movies are being released on the occasion.

The films are Dum Mustam, Parde Mein Rehnay Do, Chakkar, Ghabrana Nahi Hai and Teray Bajray Di Rakhi. All are big budget movies and the film circles expect a huge turnout of the cinema lovers anxious to see the films featuring heartthrob film and television actors.

Film veteran Rashid Khawja sounds quite optimistic about the upcoming movies, saying, “I am pretty sure that this year, people would flock to the cinemas in good numbers”.

Talking to Dawn, Mr Khawja says the trend, observed over the years in the country, is that the people go to watch the films getting good reviews through word of mouth. However, he adds, since the marketing and promotion of all the five movies is quite up to the mark, one should hope that movies would click at the box office. In the past, films such as Jawani Phir Nahi Ani, Punjab Nahi Jaoon Gi and Teefa in Trouble did some wonderful business.

Pakistan Cinema Owners Association General Secretary Qaiser Sanaullah has termed the release of five movies, namely four Urdu and one Punjabi, a good omen for the Cinema industry.

“I am sure that Pakistani movies would prove a great entertainment for the cinegoers and it is expected that advance booking of movies would start quite early,” he said.

The releases include a Punjab movie, Teray Bajray Di Rakhi, by Syed Noor. Talking about his film, he says Punjabi cinema is dwindling but he is trying to keep it alive. He says that he wants to portray Punjab’s evergreen glitter through his film. The cast of the film includes Saima, Mustafa Qureshi, Naghma, Shafqat Cheema, Babar Ali, Khushbu, Jannat Mirza, Iftikhar Thakur and Agha Majid.

Dum Mastam is a romantic comedy starring Imran Ashraf and Amar Khan. The movie has been written by Amar Khan and directed by Adnan Siddiqui and Akhtar Hussain. Parde Mein Rehney Do is a romantic film and its main cast includes Hania Amir and Ali Rehman. The film has been written by Mohsin Ali and directed by Wajahat Rauf.

Chakkar is a combination of romance and suspense, featuring Neelam Munir and Ahsan Khan. The movie has been written by Zafar Imran and directed by Yasir Nawaz. Ghabrana Nahi Hai features Saba Qamar Zaman, Zahid Ahmed and Syed Jibran and it has been directed by Saqib Khan.
