KARACHI: Pakistan Petroleum Ltd (PPL) said on Thursday it has been provisionally awarded four new blocks for exploration in competitive bidding held early this month.

A stock notice said the government has provisionally awarded Kalat West, Sui North, Mach and Dadhar to joint ventures in which PPL is a partner.

The working interest of PPL in Kalat West and Sui North is 50 per cent each. Its working interest in Mach and Dadhar is 30pc each, it said.

“The above arrangements are subject to (the) execution of respective petroleum concession agreements and grant of exploration licences,” it added.

Meanwhile, Mari Petroleum Company Ltd announced on Thursday it has received a provisional award of five new exploration blocks. It’s been awarded two of these blocks as an operator. It’ll be a joint-venture partner in the other three blocks.
