LOWER DIR: The Adenzai Qaumi Jirga, a body of politicians working for peace and development here, has demanded of the police to arrest the killers of local businessman Irshad Ghani.

Jirga members Khurshid Ali Khan, Bakht Baidar Khan and Syed Sultanat Yar told reporters in Chakdara area here the other day that Irshad Ghani of Ouch Adenzai area was killed in Islamabad on April 14 but the gunmen continued to be at large.

They said six other residents of Dir region were also killed in Punjab during the last six months.

The jirga members demanded of the federal government and Islamabad police to ensure the early arrest of the killers of Irshad Ghani for punishment.

They warned if the demand wasn’t met, the residents would march on Islamabad.

Meanwhile,the Tanzeem-i-Asateza Pakistan, the teacher wing of the Jamaat-i-Islami, on Tuesday distributed ‘Eid Packages’ among the deserving students during a function at the Government Higher Secondary School, Khall.

The packages carried dresses, bags, notebooks, cash, dates and Eid gifts.

Central president of the organisation Sahibzada Sadiq Jan was the chief guest on the occasion, where Rahmani Mulk and Muslim Khan were also in attendance.

Meanwhile, a young man was killed in a road accident in Lal Qila area here.

Abdul Rehman of Raidgi Maidan area suffered critical injuries after the motorcycle he rode skidded off the road. He died at the tehsil headquarters hospital.
