SUKKUR: Musical programme and traditional Sindhi sports were the main features of the second day of the 201st annual urs of great Sufi Saint Sachal Sarmast under way at Daraza Sharif in Khairpur district on Sunday.

Famous Sindhi singers Humera Channa, Sanam Marvi, Faiza Ali, Khushbo Laghari and others recited Sachal’s poetry at the musical programme organised by the Sachal Yadgar Committee at Sachal Sarmast complex, making audience to dance to the mesmerising tune of Sufi songs, according to a handout.

The complex building reverberated with occasional slogans of Haq Maujood (God is omnipresent) interspersed with singers’ performance.

The programme was attended by thousands of devotees, bsesides Sukkur DIG Tariq Abbas Qureshi, former MPA Pir Syed Bachal Shah, Deputy Commissioner Saifullah Abro, SSP Zafar Iqbal, Sukkur SSP Sanghar Malik, Additional Commissioner Akhtar Ali Qureshi, Additional Deputy Commissioner Iqbal Hussain Jandan, DSP Mehdi Raza Arain and other officials.

Broadcaster and poet Mukhtiar Malik, who compered the programme, shed light on the message of Sachal’s poetry and said the saint preached love, humanity and universal brotherhood.

When Salamat Suhrab Faqir, Tugail Sanjrani and others recited mystic verses, it completely changed the atmosphere in the complex and took the audience to the realm of spirituality.

Later, the committee held Malakhro (traditional Sindhi wrestling) and winners and runner-ups were given awards by chief guest.
