RAHIM YAR KHAN: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf MPA Chaudhry Masood Ahmed resigned from his membership early on Sunday.

Chaudhry Masood who belongs to Liaquatpur tehsil was elected an MPA on PP-257, Rahim Yar Khan, in the 2018 general election.

On Sunday, he wrote a letter to the Punjab Assembly deputy speaker informing him that hurdles were created by some quarters in the Punjab government for him. He said he had been through depressing times for being let down and he could not perform under such circumstances.

“Being a representative of PP-257, my conscience doesn’t allow me to go against principles. So please accept my resignation from the membership of the provincial assembly of Punjab,” he said.

Sources told Dawn that Chaudhry Masood was angry with his government from day one as he was not given priority in public and administrative matters in Liaquatpur. He had reservations that PTI MPAs Makhdoom Mobeen Ahmed and Aamir Nawaz Chandia always created hurdles for him, said sources. They added that he was given the PTI ticket on the last day in the general election.

The MPA, they said, was close to Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar and he would now join the PML-N with the help of his brother-in-law -- PML-N MPA from Khanpur Chaudhry Muhammad Arshad.

According to sources, two other PTI MPAs from Rahim Yar Khan tehsil were currently supporting Parvez Elahi but actually they were in touch with Tareen.
