KARACHI: The president of the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, Ahmed Shah, has announced that an endowment fund has been set up worth Rs100 million for the welfare of the council members.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Mr Shah said that efforts would be made to provide the members, who do not own their homes, with residential plots.
He told the media that a sum of Rs10m had been transferred to the fund immediately while ‘philanthropic’ members of the council, the corporate sector and philanthropists in the city would contribute Rs100m.
He added that priority would be given to those who would like to take the qarz-i-hasna in order to educate orphans or get their daughters married so that they could repay the amount on easy terms.
