KARACHI: Giving a clear indication of how things would develop if the no-confidence motion against embattled Prime Minister Imran Khan succeeded, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf took out an electrifying rally on Friday in which the participants expressed the resolve that “they will not stay silent” and would emerge with full force after the National Assembly session on Sunday.

A large number of PTI workers passed through different city districts under its ‘Karvan-i-Wafa’ rally to express solidarity with PM Khan.

The rally culminated near Teen Talwar in Clifton after hour-long journey. It took the PTI workers more than nine hours to reach their destination in the caravan of vehicles where a stage was set for their leaders’ address to the rally participants.

The rally led by party legislators and senior leaders was taken out from Mazar-i-Quaid in the first half of the day, which went through Shershah Suri Road.

Marching on the busy road, the rally made its first major stopover at Banaras Chowk, where the leaders addressed the workers and area residents gathered there to listen to their speeches.

The PTI leaders called for a united stand against the “conspiracies of western forces who want the ouster of the prime minister due to his emerging popularity in the Islamic world”.

PTI Karachi president Bilal Abdul thanked the PTI workers and people of the city, who participated in the public rally in Islamabad on March 27 and said that with their support Imran Khan would again emerge ‘victorious’ against every challenge.

While returning to Clifton for the final show, the rally was stopped at different key intersections where the PTI leaders energised party workers and made brief speeches.

A large number of people, including women and children, became part of the rally when it reached the South district.

The workers carrying party flags and dancing to the tunes were fully charged when the final power show began at Teen Talwar.

“There are people without scruples who traded national honour and dignity for petty financial interests,” said Leader of the Opposition in Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh while addressing the rally.

“But it’s a blessing in disguise that all these characters have been exposed now. Imran Khan has now emerged as more popular.”
