BAJAUR: A close relative of a local leader of the ruling PTI was shot dead by unidentified people here on Thursday.

Police said that unidentified attackers opened firing on Malik Shafiullah, a cousin of PTI leader Malik Mazhar Shah, in Inayat Kallay Bazaar of Khar tehsil.

They said that Shafiullah was seriously wounded in the attack and died while being shifted to the district headquarters hospital Khar for treatment.

After hearing the firing, police personnel and some shopkeepers reached the site of occurrence but the attackers managed to escape.

A police official told Dawn that they launched investigation into the incident after registering a case against the assailants.

He said the motive behind the killing of Malik Shafiullah, a resident of Badan area of War Mamund tehsil, could not be ascertained immediately.
