Who is your favourite scientist? Or which scientist inspires you to follow his/her footsteps? Think about this and I am sure you will come up with some brilliant names from the past and the present.

There are so many resources available these days to read and learn about these great scientists from around the world; but the ones I am exploring today are out of the ordinary; with the first one www.favscientist.com (Favourite Scientist) — a site with life and careers of many famous scientists from the past and some from the present.

The intriguing thing about this site is its simple layout, as if a child has made illustrations and fonts, that seem to be in a child’s handwriting.

The site won’t let you go astray, you can dig your favourite scientists right from the home screen with illustrations (cartoon figures) of scientist and their names below them.

Clicking any will open a new page with a video detailing the scientist, his works and invention. Some of them also include the interviews from these scientists. The names on the site include Albert Einstein, Marie Curie, Carl Sagan, Richard Feynman, Rosalind Franklin, Gregor Mendel, etc.

While many scientists may not be household names to you, the videos here will make their work accessible and interesting to most of you. The site doesn’t have ‘a long list’ of scientist, but it claims to add more scientists to its database soon.

The other website, www.famousscientists.org (Famous Scientists) is equally amazing as it claims to be the web’s largest educational resource focussing on the lives and achievements of the famous scientists and inventors in history.

Unlike Favourite Scientist, Famous Scientists is quite detailed; you can explore scientists and inventors by choosing from the fields such as, Chemists, Astronomers, Biologists, Geologist, Health Scientists, Mathematicians, Physicists, and also scientists during the ancient times or go through the lists of names given in alphabetical order.

What is different about this site is that whoever you are reading about, you will see the highlights of various other scientists and inventors on the right side of the screen, this makes you jump to another great person.

So kids, there is just so much to read and know about these outstanding men and women from the past and present, all you have to do is visit:
