There is just so much used and unused stuff in our houses that if we start picking them up, I am sure there will be cartons and cartons filled with such things.

One of the used things that we give no importance to are empty tin cans left over from various edible stuff that we buy. These empty cans are very convenient for keeping various little stuff in kitchen, bedroom, on your study table or on your dressing table. There are just so many ways we can use these cans.

Therefore, today, we are reusing an empty tin can by giving it nice makeover.

Things you need:

  1. One empty tin can
  2. Foam sheet of two colours of your choice (I used pink and green)
  3. Jute piece
  4. Scissors
  5. White glue
  6. Hot glue
  7. Cardboard piece

  1. Note: The tin can I am using has no plastic lid, so I made one with cardboard. For this you need to draw a circle on the cardboard piece using bottom or the top side of the can, as in picture 2.

  2. Draw another circle 0.5 centimetre larger than the previous one, picture 3.

  3. Cut out one centimetre strip from the cardboard to make the ridge, picture 4.

  4. Using the hot glue gun, carefully paste the ridge on the circular cardboard piece, picture 5.

  5. The lid of the can is ready, now you can cover it with foam sheet. I used the green one, picture 6 and 7. Put the lid aside.

  6. Cover the can with pink foam sheet, with either the white glue or hot glue, picture 8 and 9.

  7. To make the flower, cut wavy strip from the pink foam sheet in circular shape, then cut three joined leaves from the green foam sheet, picture 10.

  8. To make the flower, fold the pink wavy strip while pasting hot glue inside, as shown in pictures, 11 and 12.

  9. Now paste the flower in the centre of the leaves, picture 13.

  10. Finally, decorate the can the way you want. I kept it simple by pasting a jute strip and tying a ribbon on it, picture 14.
