LAHORE: A man allegedly shot dead his wife and mother-in-law over some domestic dispute in Shahdara area here on Tuesday.

Saifullah first shot at and killed his wife Asia Bibi (35), then went upstairs and murdered his mother-in-law Irshad Bibi (60) and fled. The police rushed to the spot on being alerted by the neighbours and shifted bodies to the city morgue for autopsy.

The police officials were clueless about the nature of the dispute.

An official said Saifullah had three children, including a mentally challenged daughter, who was present in the house when police reached there.

He said though she was an eyewitness to the incident yet could not tell anything about the motive behind the killings. He said the suspect had fled the scene along with his two other minor children.

The police officials, including forensic experts, isolated the crime scene, collected some samples and launched investigations.

A team was dispatched to trace the location or hideout of the suspected killer, he said.
