ISLAMABAD: The federal government has given final touches to arrangements for the 48th meeting of foreign ministers of member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Sunday presided over a meeting to review the arrangements. “Pakistan is once against becoming the focus of global attention,” the foreign minister said.

According to a press release, Foreign Secretary Sohail Mehmood, Special Foreign Secretary Raza Bashir Tarar, Foreign Office spokesperson Asim Iftikhar and other senior officials of the foreign ministry attended the meeting.

The heads of various committees of the foreign ministry gave a detailed briefing to Foreign Minister Qureshi on the arrangements.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr Qureshi said: “It is a great honour for Pakistan to host the 48th OIC foreign ministers’ meeting after the successful convening of the extraordinary meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers.”

He directed the officers concerned to ensure that no stone is left unturned related to successful holding of the OIC meeting. The meeting of OIC foreign ministers will be held in the third week of March.
