LAHORE: The PML-N leaders have criticised the federal government for using police force to storm Parliament Lodges and torture the JUI-F parliamentarians and workers.

“The PTI government is trying to stop the no-confidence motion against the prime minister through force. Imran Niazi is confused and desperate to save his chair,” PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif told reporters here on Friday.

He said Imran Khan would flee the country after the success of the no-trust motion. He said this man was now trying to become a revolutionary. “Imran is threatening the opposition but we will face all his fascist tactics,” he said and added the PTI government had come to power through an ‘unconstitutional’ way but it would be sent packing by adopting constitutional means.

PML-N lawmaker Rabia Farooqi submitted a resolution in the Punjab Assembly condemning the police attack on Parliament Lodges. Through the police action the privilege of the parliamentarians had been breached and this House demands that Prime Minister Imran Khan and Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid should resign over this matter.

The resolution said the premier was using mean tactics to stop the no-trust move against him.

A police contingent on Thursday raided Parliament Lodges to expel members of the Ansarul Islam, the volunteer force of the JUI-F, who were asked to provide security to the opposition lawmakers.

PECA: Journalists and the PML-N lawmakers protested outside the press club here on Friday to protest against the controversial provisions of the Peca.

PML-N Punjab information secretary Azma Bokhari said the amended Peca ordinance was a failed effort of Imran to gag the media. She said the PML-N after coming to power would abolish this controversial law.
