LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Friday directed the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) to remove power generators placed on the greenbelts of the city roads in connection with the decoration of the spring festival.

Justice Shahid Karim observed that the generators installed by the PHA were a main cause of air pollution.

Hearing a matter relating to the environment, the judge asked a law officer as to why the generators had been installed on the greenbelts.

The law officer told the court that the generators had been placed for supplying power to the illuminations in connection with the spring festival.

The judge directed the PHA to remove the generators placed on the greenbelts and submit a compliance report on March 14.
