Number of Covid cases increases slightly

ISLAMABAD: The number of Covid-19 cases slightly increased on Friday as 953 people tested positive across the country, bringing the national positivity rate to 2.59 per cent.

On Thursday, 768 cases were reported in the country and the figure of new cases on Friday rose to 953.

According to National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) figures, the number of active cases are 36,794. During the past 24 hours, 11 people lost their lives to Covid-19 and 890 patients are in critical care. Most deaths were reported in Punjab. Three people died in Sindh, five in Punjab and three in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The total number of Covid-19 cases has risen to 1,512,707 with 30,248 deaths so far.

The government’s database for tracking the spread of coronavirus in the country shows that 2,605 people have recovered during the past 24 hours, taking the total to 1,451,665.

The NCOC data showed that 215,539,999 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in the country. As many as 127,117,340 people have received at least one dose of vaccine and 99,292,129 have been fully vaccinated. Moreover, 4,512,786 people have been inoculated with the booster dose.
