PESHAWAR: A policeman was wounded in an attack on polio team on the outskirts of the provincial capital on Thursday, police said.

The attack took place in the limits of the Sarband police station close to the border of Khyber district, where the attackers tried to target the polio vaccinators.

SP Saddar circle Farhan Khan told Dawn that the injured policeman was shot four times. SP Khan said that Counter Terrorism Department and police were investigating the incident. “We have some clues about the incident,” he said.

A police statement said that the attackers targeted the policeman after failing to target the polio vaccinators.

The statement identified the injured cop as Tilawat Shah.
