GUJRANWALA: A minor girl was killed and a young man seriously injured in aerial firing by some guests at a wedding at Sadoki village on Saturday.

According to police, some relative of the groom resorted to jubilation fire at Sadoki village at the wedding of two sons of a local, Abdul Sattar Kamboh.

The bullets fired by the guests accidentally hit a six-year-old girl Erha and a young man, Tayyab.

The police said a bullet hit Erha in the head and she was rushed by her family to the Sheikhupura District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead.

The injured youth, Tayyab, was referred to a hospital in Lahore due to his critical condition, the police added.

On being informed of the incident, a police team reached the spot and started investigations to identify and arrest the culprits.

DACOITS HELD: Alipur Chattha police claimed to have arrested five dacoits on Saturday, recovering looted cash, mobile phones and a car they used for their criminal activities.

According to police sources, the gang had been active in Gujranwala and its surrounding area.

They said that on the direction of City Police officer (CPO) Syed Hamad Abid, Wazirabad circle DSP Muhammad Islam formed a team under the supervision of Alipur Chattha Station House officer (SHO) Inspector Khursheed Ahmad to arrest the dacoits.

The police team, using latest technology arrested the five suspects identified as Anwar, Haseeb, Zabiullah, Ali Hassan and Aamir, allegedly involved in various dacoities and thefts, recovering Rs200,000 looted cash, two mobile phones and a car used in crimes, from them.

The police registered a case against the suspects and started investigation.

ARRESTED: Kamoke police claimed to have arrested younger brother of a murdered man for killing him.

According to police sources, former chairman of local Zakat Ushar committee Ahmad Raza was murdered by unidentified killer.

During police investigation it transpired that Asad, the younger brother of the deceased, had shot Raza dead for insulting their parents, the sources said.

They sai dtheir father had filed the murder case against an “unknown” man to save his younger son.

In the light of investigation, the police arrested Asad for killing his elder brother.
