ISLAMABAD: A slight increase in the number of Covid-19 cases was seen in the federal capital as 75 people contracted the virus while three patients breathed their last, health authorities said on Monday.
The positivity ratio in the district was recorded at 1.8pc.
Furthermore, four people lost their lives to Covid-19 in Rawalpindi district with 32 new cases surfacing. The positivity ratio in the district was calculated at 3.4pc.
Officials of the capital administration said two female patients in the age groups of 70-79 and 80-89 died on Sunday. They were residents of I-8 and Sohan. The third deceased was also a female patient in the age group of 50-59 and was a resident of Lohi Bher.
During the last 24 hours, 4,089 tests were conducted in the capital, the officials said, adding that 17 cases were reported in the age bracket of 30-39, followed by 14 in 20-29, 12 each in 0-9 and 40-49, seven in 10-19, four each in 60-69 and 70-79, three in 50-59 and two in 80 and above.
Likewise, eight cases were reported from Lohi Bher, followed by five from F-11, four from F-10, three from I-10, two each from F-8, F-7, Tarlai and Chak Shahzad and one each from E-11, F-6, G-10, G-9 and E-7, they said, adding that addresses of 42 patients were not known.
As many as 80 patients are admitted to different hospitals, 74 are on oxygen support and six are on ventilators.
APP ADDS: According to an official of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 62 cases were reported on Sunday while 89 were reported on Saturday. He said so far 133,839 people from the capital had contracted the disease and 1,004 had lost their lives to it while 131,833 patients had recovered.
He said on the direction of the Ministry of National Health Services, the district administration of Islamabad continued surveillance of different areas of the capital to reduce transmission of infection in selected streets and sectors. They have been taking action on violation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) during their visits to marriage halls, markets, and petrol pumps.
The administration was asked to take action on violation of SOPs at shops, workshops and restaurants, he said, adding inspection teams were directed to issue notices to administrations of marriage halls besides imposition of fines on owners of different shops in case of violation of SOPs.
In Rawalpindi district, during the last 24 hours, 920 samples were collected out of which 888 were declared negative.
As per the latest data released by the District Health Authority, among the new patients, seven belong to Rawalpindi Cantonment, six are from Rawal Town, five from Potohar Town, three from Taxila, two from Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Attock while one patient each is from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Murree and Gujar Khan.
As per the report: “At present, 56 patients are admitted in six health facilities including 33 in the Institute of Urology, 16 in the Fauji Foundation Hospital, four in Benazir Bhutto Hospital and one each in Holy Family Hospital, Hearts International and Barm Hospital. As many as 5,508,131 people, including 44,625 health workers have so far been vaccinated against the fatal disease since the start of the vaccination drive on March 10, 2021.”
Four patients are on ventilators in critical condition, nine are stable and 43 are on double oxygen support.
The report stated that 456 people are quarantined in 400 homes and 56 isolation centres.
