SWABI: The Yar Hussain police here on Sunday arrested three persons for digging graves at an old graveyard in Sano Wand area in search of artifacts.

The police took the action after being informed by the locals. An official said the persons had already completed digging one grave when the police reached at the spot.

SHO Abdul Wali Khan identified the arrested persons as Mohammad Asim of Mardan, Hayat Khan and Intiazar Ali of Yar Hussain village.

The police registered an FIR against them under section 297/34 of PPC.

A similar incident occurred in Shahidan graveyard in Topi tehsil, but it was not clear as to why the graves were dug.

The local elders said unscrupulous elements used metal detectors before digging a grave in search of artifacts and other objects of archaeological importance.

TWO RECEIVE BURNS: A woman and her son received burns due to gas leakage in Topi city on Sunday, Rescue 1122 officials said.

They said that the injured were taken to the Bacha Khan Hospital Complex, Shahmansoor, and later referred to a Peshawar hospital. The injured were identified as wife of Abdur Raziq and his son, Obaidullah, 15.
