RAWALPINDI: An Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) on Thursday sentenced three persons to death on three counts in triple bomb blast cases.

ATC Judge Shaukat Kamal Dar handed down death sentence to Shabbir Ahmed, Mohammad Daud and Mohammad Bial for planting bombs in densely populated markets in Kabarri Bazar Saddar, near Corner Foods and Khawaja Corporation in December 2020.

The Deputy Prosecutor General Tahir Kazim presented the evidence before the trial court.

According to the FIRs registered by Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Rawalpindi, the accused planted bombs in the above mentioned locations that caused deaths and injuries to people in the area and damaged private movable and immovable properties.

CTD registered four separate FIRs. Shabbir was nominated in three FIRs while Daud was his co accused in one of the FIRs. Mohammad Bilal was nominated in a separate FIR.

The court also imposed fines amounting to Rs80 million on the convicts.
