RAWALPINDI: An elderly couple died of suffocation in their house while their daughter was found unconscious in her room owing to the accumulation of coal gas in Kallar Syedan on Thursday.

Rescue 1122 officials and police said the deceased were identified as Rasal Khan, 75 and his wife Sardaro Bibi, 65. Their daughter is in her 30s.

Police said the incident came to light when Khan’s son, who had been sleeping in the adjacent room, realised that his parents had not woken up in the morning and knocked on their room door. He, however, received no response.

The investigating officer said, the glass window of their room was later broken, where the couple was found dead. The room where the couple and their daughter were sleeping was filled with coal gas which caused their death, police said.

The deceased and injured were moved to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital.
