BAHAWALNAGAR: A man and his four relatives were booked on Saturday on charge of torturing his wife over her refusal to reconcile with him.

The woman, identified as Shazia Noor, a resident of Madina Town, was hospitalised with multiple injuries in the District Headquarters Hospital Bahawalnagar.

Shazia told the media that she was tortured with sticks and kicks by her husband, Muneer, and four of his relatives. She said she had filed cases against Muneer over various issues and was living with her parents. On Friday night, Muneer, along with his cousins, entered the house on the pretext of reconciliation and subjected her to torture when she refused to reconcile with him.

The spokesperson for the district police said that on the DPO’s order, A-Division police registered a case against five persons, including Muneer. He said raids were being conducted to arrest the suspects.
