TAXILA: The Attock police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested two burglars and recovered looted items including gold ornaments, cash and other valuables.

Addressing a press conference at model police station Hazro, district police officer (DPO) Rana Shoaib Mehmood said burglaries had registered an increase in robberies in Hazro.

He said a special team led by SHO Mazharul Islam was constituted which traced the gamblers and arrested them. He said that during interrogation, both have confessed to having committed as many as nine burglaries in different parts of town.

He said during interrogation gold ornaments comprising seven tola and cash worth Rs113,000 was also recovered from their possession.

Two held for celebratory firing

Taxila Police have arrested two persons on the charges of firing in the air, displaying weapons and uploading its videos on social media, police spokesman said.

According to the police spokesman, Hamza Sadeeq and Hamza Hassan resorted to firing in the air, displaying his weapons openly and uploading its video on social media.

Receiving information, a special team under the supervision of SHO Masoor Ali conducted a raid at a place in the city area and arrested both the accused.

Two guns of 12 bore with different quantity of ammunition were also seized during the raid and a case has been registered against him.

Meanwhile, Jand police raided a gambling den and arrested five persons while gambling.

Gambling tools and stake money were also confiscated during the raid.
