LAHORE: A special judge (central) on Friday granted pre-arrest bail to 30 officials of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) in a billion of rupees scam in the lease of 200-kanal properties of the board.

The judge allowed the bail and restrained the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from arresting the suspects till Jan 4.

The FIA had registered an FIR on the direction of the Supreme Court against the ETPB officials of different ranks, including estate officers, DS property, deputy administrators and field inspectors.

The FIR was registered under sections 109, 420 and 409 of Pakistan Penal Code and 5(2) 47 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1947.

AUCTION: A banking court on Friday ordered auction of a property on Circular Road owned by RJF Trading for defaulting on a loan.

Bank Alfalah had filed a suit against the company for the recovery of a defaulted loan of Rs10.74 million. The bank’s counsel stated the respondent company failed to pay the loan rather defaulted on it. He asked the court to order auction of the mortgaged property. The court ordered auction of the property on Jan 4.
