QUETTA: A policeman of Eagle Squad and five other people were injured in a motorcycle bomb blast in Nawan Killi, an area on the outskirts of the provincial capital, on Saturday.

A small girl and three women were among the injured.

Police said that unidentified militants parked a motorbike at the first bus stop of Nawan Killi area after planting an improvised explosive device (IED) in it.

The IED was detonated by remote control when some Eagle Squad personnel, who were on routine patrolling, reached there.

After receiving information about the incident, personnel of police and Frontier Corps rushed to the area. They cordoned off the area and shifted the injured to the civil hospital.

Police said that the target of the bomb blast were officials of Eagle Squad who were patrolling in the area, a spokesman for the Counter Terrorism Department said.

The injured were identified as Mohammad Aslam, girl Ashia, Gul Bibi, Saima Bibi, Mohammad Nabi and Mohammad Qaseem.
