RAWALPINDI: More than 50 cases of street crime were reported to the police from various parts of the city on Saturday. However, none of the culprits has been apprehended.

According to police statistics, besides the theft of 12 motorcycles, a car, a rickshaw and a pickup van were also stolen from various parts of the city.

Mohammad Irfan, a resident of Dhoke Hassu, reported to the Sadiqabad police that his wife left her house after locking the door to pick her son from school. When she returned, the house’s locks had been broken and gold jewellery worth Rs168,000 and other valuables stolen.

Noman Khan, a resident of Range Road, complained to the police that thieves broke into his house and took away Rs500,000 and two mobile phones.

Altaf Hussain with his four friends was passing through a street when they were robbed of four mobile phones by two robbers.

Khawaja Talat Mahmood, a shopkeeper, was robbed of Rs250,000 by unidentified persons while Manzoor Iqbal lost Rs55,000 to thieves who broke into his house in his absence in Gujar Khan.

Maryam was going to drop her son at a school when she was intercepted by two motorcycle riders. The robbers snatched her mobile phone and Rs10,000.

Faisal Waqar’s motorcycle was stolen from the Waris Khan area, Mohammad Sajid’s pickup from Morgah, Mohammad Omer’s motorcycle from the City area and Zeeshan’s bike was lifted from Naseerabad.

A car was stolen from outside Kutchery while Amir Rahim’s motorcycle was lifted from Adiala Road and Mohammad Hussain’s motorcycle from the Airport police area.

Mohammad Suleman and Shahid Mehmood reported to the police that their motorcycles were stolen from Saddar Barooni. Khalid Mehmood’s motorcycle was also taken away from Rawat.

According to a police spokesman, the Ratta Amral police have recovered five stolen motorcycles from various parts of the city and arrested two suspects.

The police said the facilitators of the two arrested suspects would also be rounded up soon.
