Kaghan snowfall causes road closure

MANSEHRA: The Kaghan valley and other mountainous parts of Hazara division received heavy snowfall on Friday.

The snowfall began in Naran and rest of Kaghan valley in early hours and continued all through the day intermittently leading to the closure of Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad Road, which links Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Gilgit-Baltistan.

The residents of Battakundi and other parts of Upper Kaghan valley began migrating to lower parts of the country.

The upper parts of Hazara division received heavy rains, which continued intermittently the entire day.

Mansehra, Balakot, Oghi and other parts of the district received rain.

CM VISIT: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan will address a public meeting in Baffa area of Mansehra district today (Saturday), according to federal parliamentary secretary and MNA Salah Mohammad Khan.

He told reporters here that the chief minister would announce mega development projects for the region.

Mr Salah said the chief minister had planned the visit on the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan and would announce over Rs6 billion development projects.

He said scores of people were expected to welcome the chief minister on arrival.

“The chief minister will perform the groundbreaking of theRs3 billion Siren Right Bank Canal project and Rs2 billion Nawazabad Mundi Mali Road project and other initiatives,” he said.

The parliamentary secretary said the Siran Right Bank Canal project being launched under the food security programme would help irrigate agricultural and barren lands across the district improving the life of farmers.

He said the Nawazabad Mundi Mali Road was one of the mega projects launched by the provincial government under its tourism initiative.
