LOWER DIR: A health team comprising doctors, medical technicians and staffers of Expanded Programme on Immunisation visited several villages of Talash here on Monday to vaccinate children against measles.

The team was sent to the villages on the instructions of District Health Officer Dr Irshad Ahmad Roghani after a section of media reported measles cases there.

The team examined the affected children. The children were vaccinated against measles and free medicines were also provided to the affected families.

Later talking to journalists, Dr Irshad said that a special campaign against measles and other infectious diseases would be launched in the district on November 9.

He said that school going children would be vaccinated during the campaign.

The DHO said that the already vaccinated children would also get fresh doses. He asked parents to extend their cooperation to the health teams so that the district could be kept safe from infectious diseases.
