THE propaganda machines are at it again. The hostile foreign media, especially India’s, has been busy spewing venom on Pakistan for long, but there is now a spike after the recent debate in the United States legislature about the fall of Kabul and the possibility of Pakistani nukes falling into the hands of the Taliban.

Besides, there were Indian insinuations at the United Nations General Assembly during the debate on measures to prevent terrorists from acquiring weapons of mass destruction. There is also a report published by the Brookings Institute, titled ‘The agonising problem of Pakistan’s nukes’.

The similarity the current campaign has with what happened between 2004 and 2007 is stark. One wonders what the point in such propaganda is when even the Pakistan-bashing dossier by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) has noted Pakistan’s efforts to turn “invisible secrecy into solid documentary form” in matters related to its nuclear affairs.

It looks the same powers that were up against Pakistan in 2004 are once again trying to put pressure on the country through non-stop malicious propaganda.
