FAISALABAD: A lady health visitor (LHV), who got registered a rape case against her medical officer (MO) with the Lundiwala police has been avoiding investigation, the police claim.

Earlier, the application of the complainant was cancelled by the Lundianwala police on Sept 9, saying that she was summoned multiple times for investigation but she did not join the police. On Sept 24, the police registered the FIR.

The LHV alleged that the MO had harassed her multiple times and threatened to sack her from her job when told to refrain from such conduct. About a month ago, the MO tried to rape her, but people rescued her when she raised an alarm.

On Sept 24, police registered the rape case and on the same day, a case was also registered against the LHV and some other people for thrashing the MO and his staff members.

The police said the department wasted no time registering the FIR as they had to send swabs of the rape complainant for examination to determine the culprit. However, in this case, they said, neither the LHV recorded her statement nor turned up before the police for the medical examination which is mandatory to ascertain the facts.A police official said the doctor secured pre-arrest bail and also joined the investigation whenever we called him.
