An official said medical examination of the victim confirmed she was assaulted.

The accused during interrogation admitted to the crime. Later, he was presented in a court, which sent him on judicial remand.

Separately, the tehsil municipal administration and the Water Supply and Sanitation Company Kohat on Saturday started fumigating bazaars in the city to curb spread of dengue virus.

The initiative has been funded by the United Nations International Children’s Fund (Unicef).

The grand business alliance had demanded fumigation of the city areas.

The fumigation drive started from the Tehsil Plaza covering Pir Akram Shah Market, the wholesale grocery market, main bazaar between King Gate and the Tehsil Gate, Bazaar-i-Mustafa, Garhi Atta Khan, Teerah Bazaar and the revenue offices.

FAKE CALLS: The Rescue 1122 in its September performance report said it received 7,882 fake calls out of total 12,307.

A statement issued on Saturday said 20 people died during emergency services in 386 cases. Over 640 victims of various accidents were safely shifted to hospitals after providing them first aid.

Rescue service’s district emergency officer Naveed Khan appealed to the people to refrain from making fake calls so maximum services could be provided to those in need.

He said both time and money were wasted when the rescue service mobilised its resources on a call.
