QUETTA: A Frontier Corps sepoy was martyred and two others were injured in an exchange of fire with terrorists in the Mach area of Balochistan on Sunday, the military said.

According to an Inter-Services Public Relations statement, terrorists targeted a security forces’ post in Mach. The FC troops at the post responded promptly.

During the exchange of fire, Sepoy Irfan embraced shahadat while two other soldiers were injured.

The ISPR says that Pakistan Army remains committed to defeating such cowardly acts perpetrated by externally-sponsored terrorist elements. Terrorists will not be allowed to sabotage the hard-earned peace in the country, it added.

Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan condemned the terrorist attack on the check-post in Mach. He said sacrifices being rendered by the security forces for the establishment of peace would not go in vain.

Army, police, Levies Force and other law enforcement agencies were committed to dealing with the cowardly acts of terrorists, he said.

Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langov sought a report of the incident.

‘Security forces have made everlasting sacrifices in the war on terror,” Mr Langov said, adding that the nation salutes the sacrifices of the armed forces. He extended his heartfelt sympathy to the martyr’s family.
