SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Seven soldiers were martyred and five terrorists killed during an intense exchange of fire in the Asman Manza area of South Waziristan tribal district on Wednesday, said Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Asman Manza area after reports were received that terrorists were present there.

According to the statement released by the military’s media affairs wing, five terrorists were killed in the operation. During the intense exchange of fire seven soldiers embraced shahadat. Cordon and search operation was still in progress to eliminate any other terrorist found in the area, it said.

The banned Tehreek Taliban Pakistan claimed that they had attacked the security forces.

On Monday, a soldier was martyred and four others were wounded when a vehicle of security forces struck a landmine on Laddah road in South Waziristan. The vehicle was part of a convoy going to Kaniguram when it was hit by the landmine.
