Man kills wife, mother-in-law in Gujar Khan

GUJAR KHAN: A man shot dead his wife and mother-in-law in Thathi area in the jurisdiction of Gujar Khan police station on Sunday.

According to DSP Gujar Khan Malik Rifaqat, Jamshed opened fire on his wife and mother-in-law, identified as Rifat and Zareena, respectively, killing them on the spot.

The suspect escaped from the scene. Preliminary police investigations revealed that domestic dispute was the primary cause of the incident.

The bodies were shifted to THQ Gujar Khan for postmortem.

A case has been registered against the suspect and raids were being made for his arrest, DSP Malik added.

Train runs over woman

An unidentified woman was run over by a train near the bypass railway crossing in Dina on Sunday.

According to details, the Islamabad Express train was on its way towards Rawalpindi. The victim (50-55) died on the spot.

ASI Mohammad Ayub said the deceased was shifted to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Jhelum. However, the woman is yet to be identified. In another incident, a 28-year-old man drowned in Jhelum River while swimming near Pir Harra Darbar in Pira Ghaib area of Jhelum.

The man was identified as Mohammad Shabbir, a resident of Kharian. His body was shifted to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital.
