CHITRAL: An overseas Pakistan from Garam Chashma of Lower Chitral Elyas Ahmed has demanded of Prime Minister Imran Khan to help him save his landed property from the influential land grabber of the area.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, he said that on his return from the UK, he tried to launch economic activities in the area and provided employment to 50 people but the land grabber foiled his efforts subjecting him to mental torture.

He said that his father Fayaz Ahmed, also a former overseas Pakistani, had purchased 790 kanals of agricultural land from Haider Ali Shah in 2009 but a few years later Mohammad Hussain started his machination to divest him of a large part of it when he refused to pay extortion to him.

Mr Ahmed said that last month when he went to his farm for cultivation, he was attacked by the hooligans on the behest of Mohammad Hussain.

He said that he received multiple injuries in the attack but he was implicated in criminal case and was kept fettered even in the hospital bed where he was being treated.

He said the prime minister had time and again asked the overseas Pakistanis to return to their homeland and make investment where they would be provided full protection from the mafia but all it proved a farce in his case.

BODY RECOVERED: The dead body of a local prayer leader was retrieved from the Chitral River.

He drowned while washing hands on the bank of river in Golen valley three days ago.

An official of Rescue-1122 identified the deceased as Maulana Tajul Bashar of Koghuzi village, who had drowned in the river.
