MARDAN: Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) got second position in Pakistan and first in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the latest rankings released by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, 2022, according to the varsity officials.

On this achievement, vice-chancellor Dr Zahoorul Haq congratulated the faculty and students and said it was the result of hard work of the AWKUM faculty in research.

He said that the varsity had proved its mettle in the world rankings for the second time, which showed that the varsity had world class teachers in terms of research.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022 include over 1,600 universities across 99 countries and territories. The table is based on 13 performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across four areas: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

MOU SIGNED: The Women University, Mardan, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the higher education department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, regarding handing over of the building of Government Girls Home Economics College, Bakhshali, to the varsity.

Special Assistant to CM for higher education Kamran Bangash, Women University, Mardan, vice-chancellor Prof Ghazala Yasmin and secretary higher education department Dawood Khan were present on the occasion.

A statement issuedby the women university said here on Friday that the signatories agreed to sign the MoU for a period of two years w.e.f. Sept 3, 2021, to Sept 2, 2023. The Women University, Mardan, will take charge of the new building and utilise it for its future needs.

The university is going to start admissions in BS degree programmes in 20 disciplines for Fall-2021 and some of the departments will be shifted to the new campus.

Meanwhile, the government handed over two mini-buses to the women university.
