LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer Ghulam Mahmood Dogar on Thursday launched an awareness campaign of the Lahore police against harassment and violence.

North Cantt SDPO Bushra Nisar led ‘Women Safety and Empowerment Flag March’ comprising women police officers and officials of all the units. The flag march passed through China Chowk, Shahrah-i-Aiwan-i-Tijarat, Jail Road, Gulberg and concluded at the Govt Home Economics College for Girls.

“First cell will be established in the police station of Defence Area (B) and the other at Police Khidmat Markaz, Liberty to ensure prompt redress of their grievances by registration of cases and investigation of crimes reported against women,” the CCPO said.

WEBSITE: Mr Dogar also launched the website of the Lahore police based on citizen-centric policing and community awareness.

SSP Discipline Mubasher Maikan, SDPO North Cantt ASP Bushra Nisar, other senior police officers and media persons were present.

Mr Dogar said the user-friendly and one-page layout based website of the Lahore police was up to the international standards with unique features and supported by a strong anti-hacking Drupal CMS mechanism. He said the website lahorepolice.gov.pk had also a functional disability mode to facilitate special persons and contained all the information and guidelines for citizens related to different services being provided by the Lahore police.

He said the Lahore police had digitised almost all its functions for online and better service delivery with the prospective vision to incorporate digital technology in its systems.

The CCPO further said the victims of gender-based violence could also directly launch their complaints using this website. He further said the website had all the details of senior police officers and their contact numbers with ‘Who We Are’ tab. “The website will not only serve the general public through its remarkable features but also facilitate police officials to ensure transparency of internal affairs by regular updating seniority lists, promotion orders, exams and interview schedules, standing orders and orders affecting general members of any cadre of Lahore Police,” he said.
