LAHORE: The Progressive Students Collective (PSC) on Tuesday protested outside the Governor House against the incidence of torture in educational institutions.

The PSC and activists of other student organisations gathered on The Mall and chanted slogans against the Islami Jamiat Tulaba (IJT) for torturing two of their activists at the Punjab University on Friday.

The PSC activists had gathered on the PU new campus to conduct a study circle during which IJT activists attacked them. Two of the students were injured.

The students holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans to revive student unions demanded action against the student organisation promoting torture in educational institutions.

PSC President Mohsin Abdali said the PU and police were not taking any measures to arrest the suspects involved in torturing the students. He demanded action against the IJT activists and revival of student unions.
