LAHORE: Punjab has reported 1,718 Covid-19 cases over the past 24 hours, the highest since May 7 when 1,117 cases were reported, while the province’s infection tally stands at 388,296 on Saturday.

The coronavirus has claimed 53 more lives in the province, including 16 in Lahore, raising the total death toll to 11,759 so far.

During the last 24 hours, 744 people tested positive in Lahore, 217 in Rawalpindi, 115 in Multan, 68 in Faisalabad, 59 in Bahawalpur, 46 in Rahim Yar Khan, 45 in Jhang, 40 each in Sargodha and Gujranwala, 32 in Sheikhupura, 31 in Sialkot, 30 in Dera Ghazi Khan and 29 in

Chakwal. The remaining cases were reported in other cities.

The positivity ratio in Punjab stood at 7.8, while it was 10.4 in Lahore, 7.6 in Rawalpindi, 11 in Multan, 8.4 in Faisalabad and 4.2 in Gujranwala.
