LAHORE: Lahore police on Thursday registered a case against PTI MPA Khurram Sohail Leghari on charges of giving death threats to a woman.

Defence-A police registered the case against Mr Leghari on the complaint of Amna Yaqoob, a resident of Defence.

She alleged that the MPA from Jatoi, Muzaffargarh district, had been threatening to kill her in his bid to force her to establish relations with him.

She said the MPA had tried to enter her residence some days ago and opened fire on her security guards who closed the main gate.

Lahore police spokesperson Rana Arif said the case had been registered and action would be taken under the law.

Close to the Jahangir Tareen camp in the Punjab Assembly, Leghari had earlier revolted against Chief Minister Usman Buzdar over funds allocation. His statements worked as he was allocated funds for the Lundi Pittafi spur along the River Indus in his constituency.

Mr Leghari had resigned as adviser to the chief minister and member of the price control committee because of the alleged non-cooperation of the bureaucracy.

Dawn tried to contact him for a comment but he did not answer the phone calls and text message.
