MARDAN: The board of governors (BoG) of Medical Teaching Institution (MTI), Mardan, on Sunday said that construction work on the buildings of Bacha Khan Medical College (BKCM) and Benazir Bhutto Children Hospital (BBCH) was in full swing and the two projects would be completed soon.

The project directors of the two schemes said this during the 44th meeting of the BoG held with its chairman Prof Dr Syed Fazle Hadi in the chair.

The board members Tahir Ali Khan and Attaullah Khan Toru attended the meeting held in BKMC, while senior journalist Rahimullah Yusufzai and Dr Shahid Khattak participated via video link.

Dean/chief executive officer BKMC/MMC Prof Dr Mohammad Fazil, medical director Prof Dr Mukhtiar Ali, hospital director Dr Tariq Mehmood, director finance Mohammad Sheraz, nursing director Mehrun Nisa and other officials were in attendance.

MTI BoG reviews progress on uplift projects

The meeting also approved increase in the salary of employees of Mardan Medical Complex (MMC) and its constituent units and honorarium for those who had performed duty during Covid-19 pandemic.

Hospital director Dr Tariq Mehmood apprised the meeting about the progress made on ongoing uplift projects. He said civil work on library, lifts, gynae and medical wards, etc had been completed.

He said the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Center had agreed to provide Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) software to the MMC.

He said the purchase of equipment for HMIS was in progress.

Prof Mukhtiar Ali said 293 patients had so far been examined in the Covid Triage during the 4th wave of the infection since July 15 last.

BBCH project director Dr Javed Iqbal said variable refrigerant flow (VRF) ducting had almost been completed in the hospital and its outdoor units had been installed.

Prof Mohammad Fazil informed the BoG about the Pakistan Medical Commission’s faculty requirements for MBBS and BDS and requested for approval of the same to fulfil the requirements, which the board approved.
