MURREE: Traffic remained blocked on Murree Expressway for around an hour as local people staged a protest against officials of the National Highways and Motorway Police for allegedly beating a motorcyclist.

An officer of the motorway police reached the spot to convince the locals to end the protest.

The officer informed the protesters that two police officials allegedly involved in the incident had been suspended.

Meanwhile, Station House Office (SHO) Murree Raja Rasheed also held talks with the locals and assured them that an inquiry would be held to determine the cause of the incident. Later, the protesters dispersed.

The protesters said the motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, upon being signalled by the police did not stop. The police chased and managed to stop the bike rider and thrashed him, they alleged.

Despite repeated attempts, the motorway police spokesperson could not be approached for comments.
