BATTAGRAM: The police have lodged an FIR against male clerical staff of the Battagram education office for harassing two women assistant district education officers.

District police officer Tariq Mehmood Khan told Dawn that they had registered FIR under sections 147, 149, 506 and 509 on Thursday against the officials mentioned in a letter written to him by the female district education officer on Saturday last.

He said the letter had requested registration of cases against the clerks of her office for passing a resolution against the two female education officers.

DEO female Zuhra Begum had told Dawn that she had ‘relieved’ 20 male clerical staff of her office for passing a resolution against the ASDEO Battagram circle Ms Shabnam and ASDEO Batamori circle Tahira Bibi, and requested the police to lodge cases against them.

Meanwhile, the ‘relieved’ staffers continued their protest against their boss, demanding her transfer.

However, a source told Dawn that the district administration was trying to arrange a meeting between Ms Suhra and the ‘relieved’ clerks to resolve the matter peacefully.
