KARACHI: President Yahya has said that he would throw any aid back on to the donor’s face if there are strings attached. Durrani announced the withdrawal of all selective credit controls and ceilings of all kinds on lending by banks in East Pakistan forthwith. … This was meant, the Governor said, to give the banks incentives to expand credit in East Pakistan to the limits required to regenerate the economy. The banks in West Pakistan will, however, continue to be subjected to the discipline of the current selective credit controls….
