PESHAWAR: Awami National Party has issued show-cause notices to its two leaders including a former MPA from Buner for allegedly working against the party’s interests.

They have been asked to clarify their position within three days otherwise disciplinary action will be taken against them.

ANP provincial spokesperson Samar Haroon Bilour in a statement here on Sunday said that party’s Buner district general secretary Shujaat Ali Khan and former MPA Qaiser Wali Khan were working against the party’s interests.

The show-cause notices, issued to them by ANP provincial general secretary Sardar Hussain Babak on behalf of provincial president Aimal Wali Khan, said that the two people were discussing organisational issues with workers unnecessarily to create misunderstanding about office-bearers.

They had already been issued show-cause notices sometime ago and as result they sought apology and promised to follow the party discipline. They have been asked to respond to the notices within three days otherwise disciplinary action would be taken against them.

It is pertinent to mention here that the party has recently suspended the basic membership of former MPA Alamgir Khalil, member of central executive council Imran Afridi and Javed Khattak for violating party rules.

According to another statement, show-cause notices had been issued to Alamgir Khalil, Imran Afridi and Javed Khattak on July 15 for their alleged involvement in forming groups within the party and violating discipline by arranging meetings without the consent of the provincial and central leadership.

It stated that response of the show-cause notices were termed unsatisfactory by the party central leadership and their basic membership was suspended for an indefinite period.

It said that ANP central acting president Ameer Haider Khan Hoti took disciplinary action against them after consultation with the party central leadership, think-tank and other office-bearers.
