PESHAWAR: The University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar, and Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organisation (Pedo) signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the Pedo office here on Wednesday to offer international standard testing of solar panels to the provincial government.

The MoU was signed by UET vice-chancellor Prof Dr Iftikhar Hussain and Pedo chief executive officer Qazi Mohammad Naeem. Under the MoU, the UET Peshawar will provide quality testing services for PV panels through its Solar Technology Centre (STC) at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Energy (CAS-E).

According to a statement, the STC follows international standards through up-to-date equipment and trained human resource to assist the industry in assessment of PV panels. ORIC at the UET will ensure compliance over decided terms and conditions of MoU.

The parties also agreed to conduct capacity building trainings for students and staff involved in the operation and maintenance, planning and implementation and evaluation of renewable energy projects. ORIC director Dr Nasru Minallah, CAS-E director Dr Adnan Daud and other officials from the UET and Pedo were also present on the occasion.
